Developing an Action Plan
Councils that sign the Nottingham Declaration commit to:-
Within the next two years develop plans with our partners and local communities to progressively address the causes and the impacts of climate change, according to our local priorities, securing maximum benefit for our communities.
This section of the website suggests what your council can do to fulfil this commitment. It is designed for councils that have still to start the process of developing a climate change action plan or strategy, but some sections may still be of value for councils that are more advanced.
Roles and Stages of Action Plan
Councils can address climate change adaptation and mitigation through their roles as: Estate Managers; Service Providers; and Community Leaders.
Getting Started
KEY OUTPUTS FOR THIS STAGE are the establishment of a Project Leader and Core Team that are backed by high level political and managerial support. You should also have agreed a programme and timetable for completing the Action Plan.
