Local authorities can now bid for up to £200,000 worth of funding for ecargo bikes from the Department for Transport’s eCargo Bike Grant Fund, to be used to purchase ecargo bikes in their local area. The money acquired by local authorities from this fund can be used within the local authority or they can provide up to 100% fully funded bikes to local businesses.
These allocations of funding are aimed to help deliver funding to smaller businesses and authorities and utilise local authorities’ expertise of how ecargo bikes can be best integrated in their region. £1,200,000 of the £2million eCargo Bike Grant Fund is dedicated for this local authority offering.
The eCargo Bike Grant Fund is still open for applications, offering up to £200,000 to applicants in total, up to £1,000 per ecargo bike. As of November 2019, over 400 ecargo bikes have been applied for, 200 of which have been approved in grant offer letters to applicants.
