Temporary changes to the central London Congestion Charge announced

Temporary changes to the central London Congestion Charge announcedThursday, 25 June, 2020

Transport for London (TfL) have confirmed a number of temporary changes to the Congestion Charge to ensure the that London’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic is not restricted by cars and congestion.

From 22 June the Congestion Charge, which covers around 1% of Greater London, will temporarily increase to £15, and will operate from 7am to 10pm for seven days a week. In addition, the Auto Pay and Fleet Auto Pay £1 daily discount will be removed. These temporary changes will reduce traffic in central London and enable more journeys to be made safely by foot or by bike.

Analysis indicates that trips taken by car could fall by a third and nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions from vehicles fall by up to 11% in these newly charged hours.

Further information on changes to the Congestion Charge can be found on TfL’s website.
