How to save money on my energy bills

How much does electricity and gas cost today?

Between 1 July and 30 September 2024, Ofgem’s energy price cap limits the unit cost of electricity to 22p per kilowatt hour (kWh) and 5p per kWh for gas.

During this time, typical households in England, Scotland and Wales will pay around £1,568 annually on energy bills.

Ofgem has confirmed the new energy price cap for 1 October to 31 December 2024. This means these households will see annual energy bills of around £1,717 a year. This is £149 more than under the previous energy price cap.
