Our response to the Skills Strategy for Northern Ireland consultation

A comprehensive consultation from the Department for the Economy in Northern Ireland, which considered the future policy for skills to promote economic, societal and environmental wellbeing.

The consultation reviewed the potential impacts and opportunities resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic recovery, the fourth industrial revolution and climate change and proposed an ambitious route to economic resilience based on addressing skills imbalance, creating a culture of lifelong learning and enhancing digital skills.

Our response focused on how the strategy might be strengthened through greater emphasis on the role of decarbonisation. We discussed the importance of policy certainty, inclusivity, remote working and the multiple positive impacts of energy-efficiency retrofitting.
