The Utility Regulator for Northern Ireland consulted stakeholders on SONI’s Draft Transmission Development Plan for Northern Ireland 2021-2030.
The Transmission Development Plan represents the proposals for the development of the NI transmission network and interconnection over the 10 years from 2021. This plan presents projects that are expected to be needed for the operation of the transmission network in the short and medium-term.
In our response we supported both the Network reinforcement projects described in the North and West Planning Area, which will enable the transmission network to safely accommodate the more diverse power flows that are a result of excess regional generation, as well as the proposed development of the second North-South interconnector.
