Thinking of using renewables to generate energy and a long-term income for your community? Local Energy Scotland can help.
Local Energy Scotland delivers the Scottish Government’s Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES). CARES encourages the local or community ownership of renewable energy across Scotland. Local Energy Scotland has a network of regional development officers who can offer free impartial advice and support to communities on engaging with renewable energy. There is a range of loan and grant support available under CARES.
The Local Energy Scotland website also offers a range of free resources, including the CARES Toolkit, an online guide which has downloadable documents to support with every step of the development process. There is also the Community Benefit Register which lists the payments given by commercial developers to community groups across Scotland, and complementary support for communities in this situation.
