Making your home more efficient can help lower your energy bills, but the upfront cost of improvements like insulation or heating often puts people off.
The good news? Home Energy Scotland can help. We’ll let you know what funding is available to you – you might be able to spread the cost with an interest-free loan, or get a grant to cover much needed home improvements.
Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan
You could turn your house into a cosy, efficient home with grants or an interest-free loan funded by the Scottish Government.
Interest-free loans can help with a range of energy-saving and bill-reducing low-carbon technology, from loft insulation to heat pumps.
The amount of grant and loan funding available depends on what improvements you want to make. Use our handy funding calculator to discover your options. There's also a rural uplift to provide extra support to rural and island homeowners, who can face increased costs when installing home improvements.

Warmer Homes Scotland
The Scottish Government’s Warmer Homes Scotland programme offers funding and support to households struggling to stay warm and keep on top of energy bills.
Eligible homeowners, tenants, or private landlords could qualify for up to £10,000 or more of funding for energy efficiency improvements like heating or insulation. If your household is eligible, we will then make a referral to Warmworks, the organisation that delivers the programme.

Private Rented Sector Landlord Loan
Ensure your rented properties meet energy efficiency standards and are warm and comfortable for your tenants through our funding and advice schemes.
Individuals or businesses that own privately rented properties can apply for the Scottish Government-funded loan. It covers improvements like insulation, home renewable systems such as heat pumps, and even connections to approved district heating schemes.
