The Resource Efficient Scotland SME loan offers funding to a variety of organisations in Scotland. This page provides information for private sector landlords interested in the scheme. Other organisations looking for information should go to the Resource Efficient Scotland website.
Funded by the Scottish Government, the loan scheme can help private sector landlords upgrade their properties by offering interest free loan funding of up to £100,000 for a variety of energy efficiency improvements such as insulation, heating or double glazing.
If you should require more than the eligible funding amount of £100,000 or have any other queries, please contact Home Energy Scotland, as there is potentially scope to review loan funding amounts on a case by case basis.
Landlords can apply for work at multiple properties on one application.
The loan can also support the installation of a variety of renewable technologies. Applications for renewables systems which will be claiming the Feed in Tariff or Renewable Heat Incentive will be offered with an interest rate of 5%.
All private sector landlords require a qualifying energy report which must recommend the improvements being applied for. This can be either an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) or a specialist private sector landlord report supplied by Home Energy Scotland.
Loan offers are valid for 6 months and can be repaid over 8 years, unless savings from your energy report show a quicker payback is possible.
Credit and affordability checks are required for all applications.
Full terms and conditions, along with eligibility criteria, can be found on the application form.
For more information or to request a copy of the application form please contact Home Energy Scotland on 0808 808 2282.
