Making homes warmer, cheaper to run and more efficient

The initial cost of home improvements like insulation and heating, or buying an electric vehicle, is often what puts people off taking action.

The good news is, Home Energy Scotland can help with that. When you call us free of charge, we’ll discuss with you which grants and loans are best for you.
Use our funding finder tool or read more below about the financial help available.

What funding is available?

You can use our handy online tool to search for funding and support – give it a try and see if you can get help with costs:

More information about current funding

Interest free loans:
We are funded by the Scottish Government and offer interest free loans for a whole range of energy saving, bill-reducing, low-carbon technology from loft insulation to electric bikes. Read more here.
Warm Homes Discount:
We’ll check whether you’re eligible for a yearly discount on your bills, offered by larger energy suppliers. Call us free on 0808 808 2282 for a free check.
Warmer Homes Scotland:
In some cases, grant funding from Scottish Government is available to help raise the energy efficiency of a property. Eligibility criteria apply, but our advisors will make sure you don’t miss out. Read more here. Please note, funding cannot be accessed for work that's already been carried out. All home improvements funded by Warmer Homes Scotland must be managed by the approved installer.
Feed-in Tariff:
At present, anyone installing a domestic renewables system that generates electricity could benefit from this UK Government incentive, introduced in 2010. The incentive is due to finish in March 2019. Our advisors can help you access this subsidy while it’s still available. Read more here.
Renewable Heat Incentive:
Like the Feed-in Tariff, this incentive offers payments to households using renewable energy to heat their homes. Home Energy Scotland can advise on accessing these payments as part of our domestic renewables advice service. Read more here.
Maximise your income:
In 2016/17 we helped people in Scotland access an additional £2.3 million in benefits and tax credits, but lots of potential income goes unclaimed in the UK every year. Home Energy Scotland can help you get a benefits check so you can be sure you’re not missing out on any additional income that could help you cover your bills or even carry out some energy-saving home improvements.
The best idea is to give us a call, free of charge, on 0808 808 2282 and one of our helpful advisors will discuss with you exactly which grants or loans will be best for you.
