Emma McKelvie
Emma started in Energy Saving Trust’s policy team in March 2024. After studying politics at the University of Glasgow, she started her career in policy on the graduate scheme at Green Alliance, an environmental charity and think tank. Emma worked on several transport policy areas, including aviation decarbonisation and EV industry scale up. Prior to joining Energy Saving Trust, she worked for The Climate Group organising high profile climate events including Climate Week NYC.
Emma’s main responsibilities included developing, and advocating for, Energy Saving Trust’s key policy positions. This involved writing policy reports, briefings and responding to UK Government consultations. She worked closely with our communications team to promote our policy positions in the press and on social media.
Outside of work, Emma is a keen runner and loves trying new crafts with her friends (like pottery or candle making!). She also volunteers with the UK Youth Climate Coalition (UKYCC), where she’s a member of their Systems Change Working Group and organises workshops to engage young people in climate action.
