Residential landowners Electric Vehicle Chargepoint Scheme

As the demand for electric vehicles (EVs) accelerates, tenants are increasingly preferring properties that offer somewhere to charge EVs.

The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) introduced new grants in April 2022 to accelerate the installation of EV chargepoints in apartment blocks and rental accommodation. This will:

  • Allow non-resident building owners (including landlords and social housing providers) to apply for a grant which would cover 75% of the costs towards purchase and installation of chargepoint, limited to £350 per socket, with a limit of 200 applications per year per applicant.
  • Provide help for owners of apartment blocks to install chargepoints in the building’s associated parking area: up to £30,000 will be available per building towards the cost of installing chargepoints, with a limit of 30 applications per year per applicant.

Energy Saving Trust delivered free webinars for owners of multi-residential units to help them access the grant. The webinars covered scheme criteria, the application process, chargepoint options, funding models and case studies. You can access recordings at the links below:

The webinar content was the same for each session, with different case study speakers on each.
