Residential landowners electric vehicle chargepoint scheme

As the demand for electric vehicles (EVs) increases, tenants will increasingly require or prefer properties that offer a place to charge EVs.

The Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV) introduced new grants in April 2022 to accelerate the installation of EV chargepoints in apartment blocks and rental accommodation. This will:

  • Allow non-resident building owners (including landlords and social housing providers) to apply for a grant which covers 75% of the costs towards purchase and installation of chargepoint, limited to £350 per socket, with a limit of 200 applications per year, per applicant.
  • Provide help for owners of apartment blocks to install chargepoints in the building’s associated parking area with up to £30,000 available per building towards the cost of installing chargepoints, with a limit of 30 applications per year, per applicant.
