Power your home with free, clean electricity
Solar panels let you harness the power of the sun to run your home’s appliances and lighting. There are a few types of solar panels available, depending on your home:
- Rooftop solar panels: Fixed to your home’s roof and hardwired into your electrical system. This is the most common type of solar panel.
- Plug-in solar panels: Portable solar panels that you plug into your electrical sockets. They’re less powerful than rooftop solar, but they’re less expensive to install.
- Solar roof tiles: Solar panels that are made to look like an ordinary roof.
Are there any grants for solar panels?
There aren't any dedicated grants from the UK Government at the moment.
But you might find support as part of other schemes. Our guide has the full list of schemes available.
