Climate Change Committee publishes COP26 analysis

In its independent assessment of COP26 and the Glasgow Climate Pact, the Climate Change Committee (CCC) has made a series of recommendations to government for action at home and internationally.

Stew Horne, head of policy at Energy Saving Trust, commented: “The Climate Change Committee’s COP26 report highlights the need for the UK Government to focus on delivery at policy level in order to meet net zero targets and reduce global temperature rise.

“Through our work across energy efficiency and transport, we are aware of the reality of where the UK is and where more needs to be done. We are pleased that there are plans to implement commitments to the decarbonisation of transport through electrification, active travel and innovation. We need to see the same level of planning and policy to address how we heat our homes and reduce our reliance on fossil fuels.

“Crucially, as we highlighted in our response to the Net Zero Strategy, published just before COP26, we know the value that an independent advice service would have in England.”
