Energy Saving Trust acquires sustainable energy software house Solstice Associates

To help further its mission to tackle the climate emergency, Energy Saving Trust has acquired Solstice Associates, a company specialising in the development of digital software for the sustainable energy sector.

Energy Saving Trust and Solstice have worked together for a number of years to develop bespoke software solutions for owned and client projects. These have included a host system for the Scottish Government’s Energy Performance Certificate register, as well as Energy Saving Trust’s Home Energy Check.

Mike Thornton, chief executive of Energy Saving Trust, said: “As the climate emergency continues, we need to increase our impact accordingly. We see great potential for reaching more people through our digital advice tools and driving efficient delivery of net zero programmes through smart digital solutions.

“Therefore, we are pleased to announce that we have acquired Solstice Associates. This is a very exciting step as it will strengthen our digital capability and allow us to develop new digital products and services to help more householders, businesses and public sector bodies on their journeys to net zero.”

Dave Cattermole, director at Solstice Associates, said: “At Solstice we are proud to be joining Energy Saving Trust Group after more than 20 years as a private enterprise. Collaboration and digital innovation are both key to fighting the climate emergency and by joining forces we will be able to truly focus resources and maximise our impact. We look forward to working together to develop leading new software solutions to drive lasting change in the energy sector.”

Solstice Associates joined Energy Saving Trust Group as a wholly owned subsidiary of Energy Saving Trust Enterprises in April 2022. Under the new partnership both Energy Saving Trust and Solstice will continue to work with existing clients to deliver high quality software solutions. Their combined expertise and commitment to addressing the climate emergency will further enhance their digital offering.

Existing directors and previous owners of Solstice, Dave Cattermole and David Cole, will continue their management of Solstice. Three members of Energy Saving Trust will join them on the board of the subsidiary company: Mike Thornton, chief executive, Kim Lim, finance director, and Inga Jirgensone, group head of business development at Energy Saving Trust.
