Scotland faces a complex problem, lack of affordable housing coupled with an energy cost crisis. What can we do to fix this? This conference considers the structural and practical interventions public and private sector bodies could make to mitigate the worst effects of the financial challenge.
The conference will examine the core challenges presented by the housing/energy affordability crisis and what can be done to remedy them, focusing on three broad themes:
- The scale of the housing/energy affordability challenge
- What is the impact of the cost crisis and how do we move forward?
- How do we take meaningful steps to help individuals and families?
Laura McGadie, our group head of energy, joins session 3 on the agenda, discussing how we can work to stabilise the cost of housing and energy costs for households. Laura will present insights from the work of Home Energy Scotland on how advice and advocacy can provide home energy efficiency support.
