Can I use this grant to install a charge point unit at my home?

Up to £400 of grant funding can be allocated to installing a charge point unit at your home, providing that the charge point installation has not begun or been complete. 

Do I need to already own a charge point to apply for this grant?

We need proof that you either have access to a charge point or that you intend to install a charge point soon. You can use an invoice or receipt from your purchase as proof that you have a charge point installed.

To show you have intent to install a charge point, we accept a quote on company letterhead with your full name, address and detailed information about the installation and associated costs.

Are plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) covered by this funding?

We will accept applications for PHEVs listed as eligible by the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV).  

Can I install a cross-pavement charging solution at my holiday home or other owned property?  

To qualify, your cross-pavement charging solution must be installed at your main home address.  We can’t offer funding for installations at holiday homes, second homes, or business properties.

Once I’ve submitted my application, can I install the cross-pavement charging solution?  

No. You must wait until you receive an official grant offer letter before starting installation. If work begins before your offer is made, you won’t be able to claim funding. 

Will my required documents be accepted if they do not match the name in my application?  

To be eligible, the name on your application must match the name on all supporting documents, including your proof of identity, address, vehicle ownership or lease, and the quote. The same rule applies when claiming your funding. 

Is there a list of eligible cross-pavement charging solution suppliers or installers?

No. However, your local council may have its own rules about which suppliers or installers you can use. Please contact them directly for more details. 

I want to allocate up to £400 towards installing a charge point. Can my cross-pavement charging solution installer also install my charge point?

Yes, you can use the same installer who is supplying you with your cross-pavement charging solution if you wish.

Can I pay for the cross-pavement charging solution before the grant offer is made?  

Yes. You can pay for the cross-pavement charging solution in advance. However, installation work must not begin until you’ve received an official grant offer letter. 

Installation includes any work related to fitting the unit. This includes, but is not limited to, switching off the power supply, running cables, or connecting electrical elements to the mains. 

Can I pre-order the cross-pavement charging solution or other materials before the grant offer is made? 

Yes. You can pre-order equipment or materials in advance. However, installation must not begin until you’ve received your official grant offer letter. 

We recommend waiting until your grant is approved before booking your installation. If you go ahead too early, you could miss out on funding.

Can I get an extension on my grant offer? 

If you think you’ll need an extension, please let us know as soon as possible. Extensions are not guaranteed and are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

We can’t approve extension requests if:

• we haven’t received prior notice, or
• the request goes beyond the final claim date set out in the terms and conditions. 

Can I change installers after I am offered a grant?

Yes, you can change your installer after receiving a grant offer. However, you must first email a new quote to [email protected] for approval. 

Installation must not begin until we’ve approved the updated quote.

What is the annex letter, where do I find it and what do I need to do with it?  

The annex letter is an additional, required document if you are leasing an EV through your employer.  

Here is the annex letter template. Share this with your employer and request that it is completed. Once you have the completed letter, please email this to [email protected] 

I have an EV through my employer’s salary sacrifice scheme. What document do I need to provide? 

We require the signed contract hire schedule. This document will include the vehicle make and model, and both your details and the details of your employer.
