About domestic charge point funding

The domestic charge point grant is funded by Transport Scotland and managed by Energy Saving Trust. The grant is available to residents in Scotland, providing up to £400 of funding to support the installation of a charge point for an electric vehicle (EV).  

Who can apply?

We accept applications from: 

  • EV owners, including those leasing an EV, in rural or remote areas of Scotland 

OR  

  • recent recipients of the used EV loan for drivers in Scotland

How to find an approved charge point installer

To be eligible for the funding, your installer must be approved by both Energy Saving Trust and the Office for Zero Emission Vehicles (OZEV). Installers must successfully complete our onboarding process to be added to our list of eligible installers.

All installers on our list are approved by the electric vehicle consumer code for home charge points (EVCC). Visit the EVCC website to learn more and find EVCC members.  

You’ve applied for chargepoint funding – what happens next?

  1. You’ll receive a decision on your application within 10 working days.   
  2. If your application is approved, we’ll email you a grant offer letter, including instructions to claim your funds.   
  3. After you have received the grant offer, you can arrange the installation of the charge point. Don’t start the installation until after you have received the grant offer.   
  4. Once the installation is complete, you’ll get an invoice and electric installation certificate (EIC) from your installer.   
  5. Once you have your paid invoice and EIC ready, you’ll upload these to your customer portal; the link is provided in your grant offer letter.  
  6. We aim to process your claim and make payment to your nominated bank account within 15 working days.  

Remember, if you change your installer or receive a new quote for installation, you must let us know as soon as possible, so that we can ensure eligibility requirements are met, and you can still receive payment.

We’re authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. This fund is subject to availability and terms and conditions apply.  

Grants are offered on a first come, first served basis and are only available while there is enough funding. The grant may close, without notice, at any time within the 2024-25 financial year. If you apply while the grant is still open, there is no guarantee you will get an offer.
