The switched on taxis loan has now closed and will not be reopening for new applications.
It was part of the wider low carbon transport loan (LCTL), which also included a range of loans designed to support Scottish households and businesses switch to electric vehicles.
From 2011 to 2026, the LCTL provided over £251,521,267 through 9,621 interest-free loans, supporting the purchase of 9,735 ultra-low and zero emission vehicles.
This loan is now closed; however, Scottish Government funding continues to address the remaining barriers to EV uptake. This includes improving access to charging for households without off-street parking, expanding infrastructure in rural and island communities, and supporting charge point installation in workplaces and shared residential settings.
