Please note that this page contains information and links most relevant for people living in Wales.

The Welsh Government Energy Service supports community and public sector organisations in Wales to transition to net zero.

The programme is funded by the Welsh Government and delivered by a consortium led by us and Carbon Trust, with support from local partnerships. The consortium also includes Arup, Gfleet, Cenex, and GEP Environmental as subcontractors.

Since it began in 2018, the programme has supported the installation of renewable energy, building energy efficiency, low carbon heat and zero emission fleet projects across Wales.

Our work

We provide grant funding, as well as technical, commercial, and procurement advice to develop energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. These projects lower carbon emissions, generate cost savings and income, and deliver wider community benefits.

Our work on the service includes:

  • Regional energy planning.
  • Low carbon heating systems.
  • Energy efficiency.
  • Renewable energy.
  • Zero emission vehicles.
  • Electric vehicle charging infrastructure.
