This consultation sought views on a range of environmental targets. Our response focussed solely on the proposed water demand target for England and Wales. It noted our support for a water demand target because of the role such a target can play in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
Around 6% of the UK’s total greenhouse gas emissions are from household water supply and use and approximately 90% of these water related emissions are from heating water in the home.
