This inquiry examined the key role of local government and its cross-sectoral partners in achieving progress towards net zero. It focussed in particular on the 2030 target of a 75% overall reduction in carbon emissions.
Our response drew on our experience of working with local authorities though some of the programmes we deliver on behalf of the Scottish Government and emphasised that in order for them to play their full part in financing and delivering a net zero Scotland, they need to be adequately resourced to ensure they have sufficient capacity and capability.
