The Foundation joins youth film charity at Scottish Parliament Festival of Politics
Our Foundation recently joined one of our grantees at the Scottish Parliament’s Festival of Politics, as the festival turned its attention to the climate emergency.
The grant has helped support SYFF in training young people as journalists and produce the Festival of Politics Youth TV programme for Scottish Parliament. The Festival of Politics, which celebrated its 20th anniversary this year, encourages people to get involved in matters they care about.
SYFF supported the budding journalists to produce a nightly recap of the four-day festival, covering a wide range of topics. As the focus turned to the climate emergency, schools across Scotland joined in with a range of sessions and panels.
SYFF’s team were on hand to cover proceedings, alongside interviewing the chair of the Foundation, Jim Metcalfe, and head of the Foundation, Lindsay Marsden:
During the festival, SYFF’s team learned more about the climate emergency but they also shared their knowledge with a wide network of young people. Using their journalism and production skills, they raised awareness of the climate emergency to potential changemakers of the future.
“It was great to visit SYFF during the Festival of Politics and see the work the Foundation is funding in person. The Foundation Trustees and I met with the young production team and were so impressed with the professionalism and quality of their work.”Lindsay Marsden, head of the Foundation
