A warm welcome to our new chief operating officer

We’re pleased to announce that Jenny Jarvis takes up the role of chief operating officer on 20 November 2023.

This new and exciting role will drive our home energy advice services, low carbon transport propositions, and support businesses to reach net zero.

Jenny will work very closely with our chief executive, Mike Thornton, and the other members of our leadership team. She joins us at a time of rapid growth, as we aim to accelerate our impact on the climate emergency.

Jenny’s career has focused on the delivery and transformation of public services in the UK and abroad, most recently as interim chief executive at the Education and Training Foundation. She brings a strong background in strategy design and delivery, applying a commercial mindset to not-for-profit activities, and demonstrating the impact of services to influence government policy.

Jenny said: “I have always been passionate about making a difference through my work. Over time it has become obvious that the area where I must focus to have the biggest impact, not just in my lifetime, but for the future, is on renewable energy and climate change.

“This new role combines my passion for addressing the climate emergency and helping the environment with my skills and talent for leading transformation and developing organisations. It is not too late, and the actions we take as a business, alongside many others doing vital work in this area, will make the difference.”

The appointment is part of a wider recruitment drive to support our new three-year strategy which aims to increase our impact in England, to expand our advice services for consumers and SMEs, and to take a digitally led approach.

Mike Thornton said: “Our strategic outlook has identified three growth areas which will significantly increase our reach and impact. It’s a pleasure to welcome Jenny as our chief operating officer to help us deliver on these ambitions and so accelerate the shift to a low carbon, low cost, sustainable energy future.”
