Climate change is already having a devastating impact on the planet. Extreme weather like heat waves, droughts and flooding will happen more often if the world continues to heat up. Sea levels will rise as ice melts, and many of the world’s animals and plants could become extinct. And nobody wants that.
Every action we take has an impact on the world we live in. Did you know that every time you turn down the heating, wash at 30 degrees, or walk to the shops instead of driving, this avoids harmful emissions being released in the form of carbon dioxide?
This is because much of the energy used to power our heating systems, home appliances and cars comes from burning coal, oil and gas. Burning these dirty fossil fuels releases carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, which then traps heat from the sun and warms the Earth. When we release too much carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, this causes climate change.
If everyone plays their part, we can limit this global warming by reducing the amount of carbon dioxide released into the atmosphere. Even small changes can make a big difference when they’re all added together. Trust us, we do the maths and we know just how big this impact is.
