Welcome
Thank you for joining the Green Homes Network. This webpage is your one-stop-shop to keep you updated on network activities and help you make the most of your membership.
As Scotland takes world-leading strides to become a net-zero society, the network plays a vital role. Homeowners and landlords will be inspired and will benefit from learning about your first-hand experience of installing and living with renewable technologies and energy efficient measures.
Home Energy Scotland is a free and impartial advice service funded by the Scottish Government and managed by Energy Saving Trust. The Green Homes Network forms part of its advice service offering, and its customers regularly use the case studies to get inspired. Home Energy Scotland supports Energy Saving Trust to raise awareness about the network and its advisors process any visit requests received through the site.
About our members
Our members make our network. We have welcomed around 400 members, and 10,118 users read 19,052 case studies in the year 2023-2024.
About your membership
Is your case study up to date? You can find your case study by using your postcode to search the network.
Have you made further improvements to your property, or installed another renewables system? Maybe you have updated data on your energy use or have some great photos you’d be proud to share? The more useful information your case study provides the more helpful your case study is to other homeowners considering installing renewables.
If your case study is out of date or you’d like to add some useful information, please get in touch and we can update it for you.
When you completed your network membership questionnaire, you decided if and how you wanted people to get in touch to find out more about your project.
When someone wants to find out more about your case study, they submit a request form on the website. We pass these requests on to a Home Energy Scotland advisor in your area. The advisor will liaise with you to arrange a suitable date and time to put them in touch.
If you change your mind about being available for enquiries, that’s ok – get in touch and we’ll update your records.
We’ll contact you each year to make sure we’ve got the right contact details for you. We’ll also check if you’re happy with your case study and your level of involvement.
However, if you ever need to update your contact details, or if you have any questions about the network or your case study, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
“It was great to speak to someone who changed from storage heaters to air source [heat pump]. I found out about the savings he is getting and how the system is working. It was a very useful conversation about his experiences and put my mind at rest that I am making the right decision.” Strathclyde and Central visitor
Spotlights on success
We’re grateful to all our network members – sharing your experiences is helping to inspire homeowners across Scotland to make a positive change.
Here are just some examples of the activities our members have supported during the last year or so.
Home Energy Scotland’s Heat Pump Heroes campaign features nine of our network members and aims to raise awareness about heat pumps in Scotland. The campaign has previously featured in Scottish Government’s Heat in Buildings Strategy and through its social channels and communications.
The network continues to be approached about content for publications such as:
The Times
The Telegraph
Place Design Scotland
Grand Designs Magazine
Scottish Government has also been keen to highlight members with solar panels in its Solar Vision campaign, part of its Energy Strategy and Just Transition Plan.
Members were featured in our Green Homes Network promotional video filmed last year and others hosted stock photography shoots for Home Energy Scotland’s website. Scottish Renewables is also putting together a heat pump mythbusting campaign called Heat Pump Primed. This campaign will feature testimonials and interviews with Green Homes Network members about the benefits of living with the technologies.
Network members have supported webinars hosted by Energy Saving Trust and Home Energy Scotland including a webinar aimed at the heat pump supply chain. Some of our members have signed up to NESTA’s Visit a heat pump project. This involves giving up their time to host open days and engage with heat pump adopters face to face.
Rewarding our members
We want to say a huge thank you to our members and reward them for their contributions. At the end of each year we try to send a small thank you gift to members who have gone above and beyond to support the network. So, it’s always worth getting involved!
Help us grow the network
Do you know a homeowner or landlord that would like to join the network?
Every month, we aim to promote the network by highlighting our newest case studies on Home Energy Scotland’s social media channels (if you consented to this on your joining questionnaire).
If you’re feeling social, you could mention us too! Tag Home Energy Scotland on Facebook or Twitter, or perhaps share your case study with your friends?
