As the climate emergency escalates, we’re pushing to make sure everyone in the UK has access to market-leading energy efficiency advice and support. Our work shows that this is the most effective way to help homes and businesses cut carbon.

Everyone deserves to feel warm and comfortable at home. In the UK, that means improving the energy efficiency of 29 million homes and speeding up the shift to low carbon heating. This will cut energy bills and carbon emissions and boost the UK’s energy security.
We want to help everyone make better energy choices, and we use our extensive expertise to shape government policy.
Across the UK, we deliver national and local home energy advice services. Providing tailored advice is key to helping households overcome barriers to reduce energy use and lower energy bills. That’s why we’re calling for a national energy advice service in England as part of the UK Government’s Warm Homes Plan.
We’re also calling for the UK Government to maintain its budget commitments and to implement our learnings from our services in Scotland.
From ambitious start-ups to global brands, we empower businesses to lead the way towards a low-carbon future. Our digital and data-powered products and services help companies achieve their sustainability goals, engage customers with energy saving and home upgrades, and unlock growth.
We tailor our support to each business, providing solutions that cut emissions, advance net zero ambitions and build long-term resilience. Last year alone, we supported 924 businesses and strengthened partnerships with major corporations, including the Co-operative Bank and Lloyds Banking Group.
We helped 803 businesses in Scotland save money and reduce their climate emissions by becoming more energy efficient. Through Business Energy Scotland, we provided 1,145 energy saving assessments, identifying £8.9 million in energy saving opportunities, with an average carbon saving of 12.3 tonnes per business.

We’re helping The Co-operative Bank support its customers to cut their energy use with a bespoke version of our Home Energy Efficiency Tool.
Our partnership provides a platform that creates personalised home energy improvement plans for thousands of customers.

We provided data, modelling and analysis to help Lloyds Banking Group evaluate and reduce the carbon footprint of homes in its mortgage portfolio. Last year, 5,943 action plans were created to help homeowners improve their EPC rating, and 44,321 plan have been produced in total.
Community energy has huge potential to drive economic and social benefits for communities across the country. By installing community-owned energy, people can power their homes and businesses at a lower cost and gain local investment.
We work on a wide range of community energy initiatives through partnerships with Ofgem, the Scottish Government and the Welsh Government. Last year, we supported 336 projects and delivered over £114 million of grants and loans to communities across the UK.
We’re proud to be continuing to help more communities see real benefits from the roll-out of renewable energy in their local areas.
We gave expert advice to 415 local organisations in Scotland, as a delivery partner for the Community and Renewable Energy Scheme (CARES). We also distributed £7.2 million in funding, which will deliver estimated lifetime carbon savings of 21,525 tonnes.

This project has reduced power outages to zero to date. While in the past, the overhead lines were regularly getting damaged by falling tree branches or geese flying into the lines.
Knoydart Renewables Ltd
In 2024/25, we supported 188 energy projects and delivered £107 million in grant and loan funding through the Welsh Government Energy Service. The scheme helps community and public sector organisations install renewable technologies such as solar panels and heat pumps. It also helps build energy efficiency and invests in zero-emission vehicles and charging infrastructure, adding up to an estimated saving of 28,487 tonnes of CO2e last year.

Our charity, the Energy Saving Trust Foundation, is powering change for young people and the planet. Since 2022, it’s provided £764,000 in grants to 22 organisations through the Youth Climate Action Fund, helping young people experiencing inequality take action to address the climate emergency. It’s also allocated £40,000 to the Roots & Routes Fund alongside other organisations.
We delivered £1.5 million in grants for clean energy, agricultural technologies and sustainable cooling in projects in the Global South, as part of the coalition behind the Low Energy Inclusive Appliances (LEIA) programme. This funding helped 33,661 people through innovations including a low-carbon cold room for small-scale farmers and traders in Kenya.

Road transport is responsible for almost 25% of the UK’s total carbon emissions. We’re working to significantly reduce this through our fleet advice and consultancy services.
We help local authorities, charities and many household-name businesses, to review their transport emissions and energy use, and understand how to comply with government policy.
As a trusted partner for the public sector, we help local councils with a wide array of fleet support projects. These include vehicle suitability assessments, carbon footprinting, data and cost analyses, and EV charging infrastructure. We’re also committed to helping individuals lower their vehicle emissions and energy costs. Our work covers cars, vans, trucks, lorries, buses, cargo bikes and more.

EV chargepoints are forecast to be installed across England with UK Government funding, through its local electric vehicle infrastructure (LEVI) fund.
We follow our own advice by running Energy Saving Trust as sustainably as possible, and helping our employees cut their carbon emissions too.
In 2024/25, we achieved an 82% decrease in both direct emissions from energy sources we own or control (scope one) and indirect emissions from energy we buy (scope two), from a 2020/21 baseline year. This means we’ve hit our near-term targets for the second year in a row.
These achievements were possible because of changes to the way we work, including moving towards more environmentally-friendly buildings. Our Edinburgh office is now EPC-A rated and our London office is EPC-B rated.
We’ve updated our scope three emissions calculations, integrating direct supplier data as well as including pension contributions as a new source. These changes are providing more actionable data and encouraging more sustainable practices among suppliers.
Our scope three emissions continue to drop and this new methodology more precisely estimates this decrease at 13% this year.
Through our public sector work and corporate activities, we deliver economic, social and environmental impact for communities.
In 2024/25 we contributed the equivalent of £4.1 million in social value by protecting the environment, creating new jobs, promoting equal opportunities, and supporting the wellbeing of our colleagues and communities.
Across the business, our people gave 176 hours of their time to volunteer in their communities, or for causes that mattered to them.

We offer a range of support to help our people save energy. Our electric vehicle (EV) scheme for employees saved 34.4 tonnes of CO2 emissions last year.
We also granted 19 carbon saving purchases through our interest free employee net zero loans, totalling almost £42,000.
These funds helped colleagues make home energy efficiency upgrades and low-carbon travel choices that should deliver around 178 tonnes of lifetime carbon savings. That’s the same as taking 91 cars off the road for a year (based on an average car’s emissions of 1.9 tonnes of CO2e a year).
At a time when both energy bills and interest rates were high, Energy Saving Trust’s interest-free Net Zero Employee Loan helped me install solar panels.
Since installing these, alongside our battery system, we haven’t paid a penny for electricity or gas, as our export payments over the summer more than cover our bills in the winter!
