Energy Saving Week in Northern Ireland is back on 18 November 2024.
Throughout Energy Saving Week, we’ll be working with organisations across Northern Ireland to share tried and tested tips to help you:
Saving energy at home can help reduce your carbon footprint as well as your energy bills. With that in mind, we’re inviting homes, schools, and organisations across Northern Ireland to join us in making a change.
Caveats
Prices are based on an average of supplier tariffs (electricity and natural gas) as of October 2024. Oil prices are based on an average 1,000 litre purchase in October 2024. Please note, the discounts are subject to change pending timelines for implementation. Statistics and savings are based on discounted rates to ensure customers are provided with as accurate information as possible at time of publication. Correct as of October 2024.
Energy Saving Week is run in collaboration with the Housing Executive, Power NI, Phoenix Energy, Bryson Energy, the Consumer Council, SSE Airtricity, firmus energy, NEA NI, Apex Housing Association, Clanmil Housing, Choice Housing, NIFHA, Evolve and Radius Housing.
To coincide with our Energy Saving Week campaign, we’ll engage with primary schools and secondary schools (years 8 and 9) across Northern Ireland. They’ll take part in an energy saving school challenge in partnership with the Housing Executive and Eco Schools project. Over the course of five days, school pupils will be encouraged to save energy at home and reduce their carbon footprint by completing a range of daily energy saving tasks. Through this challenge, children will consider their actions regarding energy use and the impact this has on the environment, to become our energy heroes of the future!
Each school that participates will be issued with a certificate to illustrate the amount of carbon saved by completing the challenge, which can be proudly displayed in school.
We’d be delighted if schools could tag us on Facebook and X to update us on their progress with the challenge. Please use #EnergySavingWeek24.
The school that saves the highest amount of carbon dioxide (pro rata according to the size of the school population) during the energy saving challenge will be awarded £1,000. They can use this to contribute to a sustainability project that benefits the school. This prize has been kindly sponsored by Power NI. The next five schools with high carbon savings will be awarded one laptop each, donated by the Housing Executive.
Well done to our 2023 winners St Patrick’s Primary School, Omagh for winning the top prize of £1000 to put towards a sustainability project, sponsored by Power NI.
