For this webinar, we have invited Service Delivery, the team that administers the funding scheme, to explain the customer journey of the Home Energy Scotland Grant and Loan scheme. This Scottish Government funding scheme is there to help householders with the upfront cost of renewable technologies and energy efficiency projects to reduce their energy use or carbon footprint. This webinar will provide you with the information you need to support your customers in navigating through the funding scheme available in Scotland.

Support for your customers: Home Energy Scotland advice service – Wednesday 10 April. This webinar covers the free and impartial advice and services provided by Home Energy Scotland, a network of regional advice centres across Scotland. The network is the first port of call for anyone who needs advice on how they can reduce their energy usage and carbon footprint. If your company installs energy efficiency improvements and renewable technologies in Scotland, it is important to understand what services your customers can access through Home Energy Scotland.
We will also hear about the Green Homes Network, a free case study database for homeowners in Scotland considering installing home renewables. Procurement guidance – bid better for public sector contracts – 21 February 2024. In partnership with the consultancy firm, SCMG, this webinar introduces our updated procurement guide and provides a step-by-step on how to develop a bid to access public contracts. New initiatives introduced by the Heat in Building Strategy such as the Local Heat Energy Efficiency Strategies (LHEES) bring commercial opportunities to the supply chain working on the retrofit sector. This webinar will walk you through how to make a successful bid for public sector contracts in the energy efficiency and renewables marketplace. TrustMark registration, the process and what this means for the insulation sector in Scotland – 14 February 2024. Trustmark registration and PAS 2030 mandated for installing businesses working within government-funded schemes such as the Home Energy Scotland grant and loan scheme. The Scottish Government also wants to set up regulations to enforce a new energy efficiency standard across all tenures in Scotland by 2033. If your business offers insulation services in Scotland, you can benefit from registering with Trustmark. Join us to hear from Trustmark experts on what TrustMark is, how it links to PAS2030:2019, and how you can register your business. We are joined by Simply Certification, a certification body for TrustMark registration, that provide details on how to achieve PAS2030 demystifying the difficulties of the process. The path to upskilling the insulation industry – 7 February 2024. In collaboration with Energy Skills Partnership (ESP) and West Lothian College, this webinar addresses the Scottish Government’s recommended skills requirements for insulation. Join us as we explore the SVQ Insulation and Building Treatments (Construction) SCQF level 6 program offered at West Lothian College, designed to provide the industry with a recognised qualification that will help towards obtaining PAS2030 and TrustMark registration. Additionally, we provide insights into the Scottish Government’s Heat in Building Bill Consultation and the advantages of incorporating insulation into your range of services.
This session offers valuable information on various aspects including details on qualifications, pathways, and routes for both new entrants and experienced workers, insights into the college’s delivery models, and guidance on accessing training through the college website including costs. It is an opportunity to learn about potential career paths and/ or enable businesses to integrate insulation into their portfolio, especially in response to the growing demand. Presented by members of the Scottish Government Heat in Buildings division, this webinar covers the key proposals of the Heat in Buildings Bill consultation and discusses the opportunities it can present to those working in the green heat for the domestic sector. Career paths to install heat pumps – 22 November 2023. This webinar focused on the Scottish Government’s recommended skills requirements for heat pumps and the courses available in Scotland to help the supply chain upskill. It introduces the mobile heat pump training centre – a new assessment facility that will provide heat pump training across Scotland. MCS: Consultation results and standards for heat pumps – 9 November 2023. MCS presented the results of their recent consultation and what these changes mean for the scheme going forward. They also go into the details of MCS standards for heat pumps to provide clarity to businesses installing this zero-carbon heating technology. Presented in partnership with TrustMark, this webinar explained what TrustMark is, their remit, and how it links to PAS 2030:19. The benefits and considerations of heat pumps, PV, and batteries – an integrated system – 13 September 2023 This webinar provided clarity on how an integrated system made of a heat pump, PV, and batteries works and how they interact with each other. Presenters include Energy Saving Trust’s Insight and Evaluation team who discussed how heat pumps work with PV and batteries as a package. For this webinar we invited a technical expert from Daikin to provide more clarity on the many aspects to consider when installing an air-to-air heat pump: How efficient they are, what are the approximate running costs, and where it is more suitable or beneficial to install? Air source heat pumps – design and installation – 28 March 2023. In this webinar we interviewed Peter Emmerson. A heating engineer for 20 years, Peter has been involved in over 500 air source heat pump installations and is working at Aberdeen Training Centre (ATC) where he delivers BPEC and LCC training courses to upskill heating engineers in low water temperature heating systems. We discussed the key considerations at the time of designing and installing an air source heat pump and how this compares with combustion boilers. Register to watch the recording.

Scottish apprenticeships advice workshop – 20 April 2022. We ran a session in partnership with Skills Development Scotland (SDS) discussing the apprenticeship family in Scotland. Highlighting the differences in the apprenticeships on offer, the benefits of each & how they are funded as well as talking over those initiatives on offer. Heat in Buildings Strategy: What it means for Scottish businesses within the heating sector – We ran a series of three webinars on the Scottish Government’s Heat in Buildings Strategy, each focused on a different area of Scotland and provided an update on what the strategy means for businesses within the heating sector. Also covered were skills and funding for installers, and the role of the Energy Efficiency Business Support Service and Home Energy Scotland in creating demand for low carbon technologies.
