Cycling is more popular than ever, with thousands taking to two wheels over the past year during national lockdowns. It’s been so popular that bike shops have reported running out of stock.
If you need some assistance with your cycling, why not go electric? Electric bikes, or ebikes, have an electric motor and battery to help you cover more ground quicker, at the same time as reducing local air pollution in your area.

Glasgow-based Colin, 70, is recently retired. Keen to keep fit, he was discouraged from using his old pedal cycle because he lives at the top of a steep hill. Having once tried an ebike on holiday, he decided to purchase one. He knew that with the right ebike, he could use it for trips to shops, to see friends and family, and on longer tours around Scotland.

Jackie’s first taste of an ebike came when she borrowed her friend’s bike for a ride. It was then that she realised how much easier she found it than a regular bike. As someone living with epilepsy and long-term knee problems, Jackie wanted to be able to enjoy the freedom and flexibility of cycling, while making sure she could do it with ease and pain-free.

After being advised to undertake more exercise by his GP, Stephen sought practical ways to improve his health and wellbeing. Thanks to Energy Saving Trust’s eBike Loan, Stephen was able to cover the upfront cost of purchasing an ebike.

Lisa had no previous experience of ebikes, but soon discovered that the electric-assisted cycle made for a comfortable and enjoyable journey and gave her the extra boost she needed on steeper routes.
